Essex Carers The Way to Work
We will engage at least 117 registered, unregistered and unpaid Carers across Essex and support them to move along a pathway from exclusion and isolation to social and financial inclusion through volunteering, training, job-search, education and employment.
We will focus on Carers who would like to work and maintain contact with the Labour Market but are not currently supported to do so. Project beneficiaries will include young and older Carers, those in urban and rural areas and those experiencing additional barriers to employment
Practical Carer's support:
Benefits reviews; access to respite; health and social care navigation; Carers Assessments; Advocacy and employee rights, for example, flexible working arrangements.
A key barrier to employment can be financial security in employment. We will provide practical advice on financial entitlements, including Carer and Cared-for benefits; facilitating access to professional financial advice.
Motivational interviewing and coaching to build confidence in peoples' ability to help themselves and explore issues such as the emotional transition back into Employment.
Support to identify and access local skills training courses.
The 4SX "Essex Carers - The Way to Work" BBO programme (SELEP) is co-funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund and is designed to fit with the complex needs of unpaid carers and help support both registered and unregistered Carers across Essex to tackle immediate problems, build confidence and resilience, improve health and wellbeing.
